There are two activities that are identical to the gaining of gongfu in Taiji. One is swimming and the other riding a bicycle. These features about them are relevant to Taiji learning and gaining of real gongfu or skill.

  • You follow the instructions but they might not necessarily help you.
  • Once you know how, you will realize that it is just like what the instructions described to you.
  • Once you know how, you cannot undo it. It stays with you forever.

Yesterday I was pushing hands with taiji brothers and felt distinctly different from before. I could feel that I was doing taiji with the lower body now. The form is starting to change my body structure. It is changing me. Please tell me what I should pay attention to at this stage.

Recently Master Chen was in Ottawa again to teach another three day seminar. On the last day I had the pleasure of attending. It began with some push hands, interspersed with Yilu practice and several exercises. During the course of his instruction Master Chen recounted many interesting stories and examples.
