When we learn the form we must copy what we see. This is not wrong. Form means to get from here to there. What’s wrong is how we get there, the way we do it. The form must look the same but the action must be exactly the opposite of what you would come up with on your own.

Neutralizing is taking up the space before your opponent can and adding slightly more. I’m not sure, but maybe is the same as when Master says that there is one line with two sides to it: you follow the opponents line back and then step in on the same line.

Find the stretch or manufacture it with both hand then cut the stretch toward o back with waist turn. Or scissor push o back against front thigh
O put hand on your shoulder redirect to o line back to his shoulder. Same with o hand on arm
Matching power. Have to feel o power first otherwise can’t match it
Kua rotation exercise on chair. Keep butt steady then do the shun ni rotations on kua by pushing on feet.
Yilu double heavy. When stepping make sure it is clear transfer of weight.

While drawing the circle there must be no moving of the body. However, the body must not move. The arm must not be flimsy and must always be constantly pushing down. However, half the energy that goes down must go up. There is an invisible horizontal wall preventing the arm from going down to the ground. This is an abstract wall, and it’s placement is of your own decision and position. The head must be suspended by a string. The head pushes upwards, however, there is an invisible ceiling on top of your head preventing your head from going up. This gives you peng energy. Read more

As I had booked my flights early, my final destination, after a short stop over in Shanghai, was Qingdao. The other people of the group enjoyed a few days in Beijing. Master Chen organised the train ride from Qingdao to Wulian for me, and one of his friends (who works in one of the export companies in Qingdao) picked me up from my hotel and made sure I was on the right train, right carriage, right seat. Unfortunately, it was foggy that morning so I didn’t get to see much of Qingdao. The train ride was about 2 hours, and gave me a good view of the landscape outside of the city. Once we left the suburban areas behind, the country side was no different from the flat lands you find in the Canterbury area in New Zealand or the agricultural areas of Holland. Read more
Hunyuan Taiji Academy – Milwaukee is having a Practical Method training session on Saturday July 31st.
The location of the get together is the Prairie du Chien, WI/McGreggor, Iowa area on the beautiful Mississippi River.
Time will be an afternoon and evening session on Saturday and a Sunday morning session.

The seven full time students start with foundations, then Master Chen join us and start a yilu form. He started slow and loose and toward the end he cranked it up, really powerful, fast movement. I think this is how he practice privately, I never see this power in his videos. Read more
Movement cannot hold force. If there is force anywhere then you cannot open.
Power is not generated in the arms by pushing with arms, power comes from the legs and is transfered to the hand by activating the hips. Push the foot into the ground, like you are trying to stand, but don’t stand up. Instead rotate your hips so you can stretch your leg, body, arm and hand.

When you are being pushed don’t react to the push. Only go down and take a step forward. This seems very difficult to some people but Master Chen insists that it is mental: “if someone said they would give you ten dollars every time you went down you could go down.” We must train to always go down even if it means falling down. We must learn to not be afraid to go downward. If you are going to lose, lose downward. This way we become accustomed to the proper reaction.
Question, “What is it like to have no circles?”. The master answered, when you boil water, you will know that boiled water does not whistle. It whistles only when it is about to reach the boiling point. That’s because the water in the pot reached the same level of temperature.

The size of movement of each part of the body must match. For example the hand is capable of a much wider range of motion than the body, therefore the hand can only be allowed to move as much as the body does.
