Taiji can certainly be considered a form of specialized technology, and like any specialized technology, this requires special language.
That language is something we have to be very careful of because, in many cases, a word with a ‘common’ meaning often has a special, more extensive, or more precise meaning than the one we would normally attribute to it.
From time to time there is this dense fog on the mountain. Actually that the clouds. So you could say we were in heaven. For all interested going there: Most days during my stay were sunny, even in march.
But this fog was great, too. So mysterious. Sometimes you couldn’t see more than 10m. Ask John Intervalo about it. He arrived in a very dense fog and couldn’t see most of the mountain for about four days. But what a sight after that. It’s so beautiful there.

Three weeks ago we did arrive on Daqingshan with our little boy. We’re going to stay for 6 weeks, so now’s half time. So far with quite success. Read more

Sometimes watching something in nature can be helpful in gaining understanding a type of movement. If you watch generally speaking you see ‘everything moving’ in a wavelike manner. But if you look more closely you will notice the movement is actually the result of a sequence of isolated actions connected by stretch. Every thing is NOT moving at the same time. There is an energy flow through the segments.

Don’t let the right elbow come out first, and the right hand leads the stretch.
The left hand stretches to the back, and the left elbow pulls the hand over the left shoulder to bring it to the front.
Just before the jump, convert the horizontal force to vertical force. Line up the left kua on top of the left heel, like you are sitting on it. The left kua, left knee, and left heel form a triangle. There is an invisible line between the left kua and left heel, and it is the rod/stick.
In today’s Practical Method practice in Toronto, we covered the triangle, double lock and single lock. Ketong Lin wrote an excellent article on this topic: http://dqstaiji.cn/archives/11907. Read more
