Cai Shengye was born in 1947 in Jinan, Shandong. He graduated from the Shandong College of Chinese Medicine in 1970. In the summer of 1963 famous Xingyi Master He Hongbin introduced him to Mr. Hong Junsheng to study Chen Style Taijiquan. As a result, he became Hong’s indoor disciple.

Mr. Cai is honest and humber. He is intelligent and has an insatiable desire to learn. He respects his teacher and his profession. Master Hong Junsheng deeply loved him. Hong taught him Yilu three times with explanations of each move. Master Hong also had high expectations of his physical condition. He introduced Cai to study the pole shaking from Mr. He Hongbin and the art of night walk from famous Qinggong master Wang Qiuxia. Read more

On Nov. 27, 2010, Dave Dahms and Daniel Mroz were inducted as disciples of Master Chen Zhonghua in Ottawa, Canada. A private ceremony was held in the Dragon restaurant in Ottawa Saturday evening after the workshop.

Master Chao Xiuzhen was born in Heze in October of 1940. He is a retired solicitor-general of the Heze government. Currently he is the vice director of “Jinan Zhixing Taiji Shangwu Club”, adviser to the Heze Hong Style Taijiquan Shangwu Activities Center, vice chairman of the Peony District Taijiquan Association of Heze. He is included in the Chinese Taiji Who Is Who. Read more

Han Yigong was born in 1967. He studied Xinyi Liuhe when he was young. In 1993 he started Hunyuan Taiji with Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang. In 2006 he became a disciple of Grandmaster Feng. Currently he is the head of the China People’s University Hunyuan Taiji Center. He has the designation of 4th Dan in Chinese Martial Arts. Read more

Within Chinese culture, any traditional skill may be passed down from master to disciple, whether it be martial arts, scholarly arts, painting, cooking, even the art of being a barber or an executioner. Becoming a disciple forges a unique bond between you and the long line of ancestors who forged your tradition before you. It is a very special relationship between master and disciple, full of ritual and meaning. You become family. However, like so many aspects of Chinese culture, it is woefully misunderstood by outsiders. Read more

Master Chen Zhonghua is a young person (aged 45 in 2005) of the old school. He is from an unbroken line of taijiquan lineage. He is much more concerned with the proper transmission of the art than the promotion of taiji for self defence and health. This is not to say that his taiji does not include these two aspects.
