Used rubber cord to explain the energy alignment and movement vs tranquility.
It has been a year. I pretty much did about 1,500 yilu’s till date. This trip, I like to focus a little more in push hand to experiment the moves in the form. The yilu’s I did has given me strength. I feel more stable and not as whimsy compared to last year. Read more

Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang peacefully passed away on May 5, 2012 in Beijing. I lost my Shifu and the martial arts world lost a grandmaster! The funeral will be held on May 11, 2012.
To all my students, please remember this day and have a moment of silence with us in Beijing!
Feng Zhiqiang is the ultimate example of Taiji. He is a paradox and a harmonized contradiction. He is the most common retired old man and yet the most feared legendary master. He is our only link (as of 2001) to the time of fists and swords, of legends and heroes, and of dedication and bitter struggle to survive.

I was in Toronto training with some members of the Toronto Practical Method Group & Practical Tai Chi Group. We performed a few Yilu and lots of push Hands. It’s alway nice getting together to train with Taiji brothers from other groups in Master Chen’s Practical Method Taiji Family.
Jay came to Toronto for a conference. Nick, Allan, Hugo and I went to train with him. We did a couple of Yilus and pushed hands with one another. At the end, Jay demonstrated the straight sword form.

Two videos by Chen Zhonghua. One with Michael Koh on Daqingshan in May 2011. When we push hands or making moves, one of the most common problems is that the whole body (parts other than the part used) are engaged. In this video, Master Chen Zhonghua shows Michael Koh how to push with his hands without engaging his shoulders. As you can see in the video, this is not easy to do. Presenter: Chen Zhonghua Length: 2 min. In: English Year: 2011 Difficulty:3/5 At:Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The second video is made in Edmonton in Jan. 2012. It is 5:45 long and covers the rotation and movement requirements of the shoulder. How the shoulder can rotate 360 degree. The last topic is on Zhuan Guan.
