My name is Ramona. I started practicing Practical Method Tai Chi with Ping Wei approximately one year ago at Paradise Valley Community College. I have always liked martial arts and was curious about Tai Chi. The promise of strength, balance, and brain power intrigued me so I decided to give it a try. After all, what can I lose? After a year of steady practice I have improved, or so my teacher tells me, and he should know. After all he has been practicing for many years.

Background
In 2001, I started studying Kung Fu. My teacher also taught Chen Style Taijiquan from Chen Quanzhong. Watching my teacher perform Taiji at one of our demonstrations, I thought it was fantastic. I read “Chen Style: The Source of Taijiquan” by Davidine Sim and David Gaffney and thought I should really switch to Taiji, but I chose to continue down the path of Kung Fu since I had already started it. Personal Information
I was born in Austin, Minnesota USA in February of 1968. I moved to the neighboring state of Iowa as a child. My early experiences in life set me on my path in martial arts and a career of helping struggling children. I was a homeless orphan at the age of 15. I was fortunate enough to have been taken under the wing of someone who taught me kung fu every morning with no fees…it taught me many life lessons besides the martial aspects; such as commitment to others, commitment to the art, self-discipline, and an overall respect and awe for being a part of something that had a bountiful history, honorable tradition, and rich with culture.

Someone asked a question in the Youtube comment of Master Chen video.
This is what I wrote back:
A: Taijiquan is structural power, from long time practice, you can find out the most efficient way to generate this power from joints relationship
Q: But how did the first founder of Taichi knew in the first place that if he started an unconventional ways with long practices he would achieved something?
how would you answer this question?
Yesterday I had the luck to assist Master Chen and Pavel Codi in filming a corrections video in Prague. Apart from the valuable corrections received as an observer, later also had the opportunity to touch, see and feel exactly what Master Chen was describing before. Read more

My name is James Strider and since meeting Master Chen in Holland way back in 2006 I have been pretty much obsessed with the Practical Method. Having started my journey with Chinese Martial Arts, in this case classical WuShu, in 1987 at the age of 14, I was envious of the few students who could go with our Sifu back then to China for up to 3 months at a time to study. They would return with colourful stories (mostly about the lack of toilet paper and milk!) and I would see their skills increase significantly each time. It was then that I promised myself that I would one day make it to China and stay for at least 3 months. Read more

During push hands practice, Master Chen Zhonghua often says, “Get out of the way”. The result is that the opponent falls right into a hole (to the ground). I had a recent understanding of this phrase. Whose way that I need to get out of? It’s opponent’s path to the ground, and I am right in the middle blocking it. In theory, if I can remove myself from that path, the opponent will happily (or not so happily) reach his/her destination (the ground).
In more practical terms, I need to lure the opponent into using me for support without him realizing it, I then put a lid above/behind him. Without losing the lid, I get out of the way to remove my support for him. With no further pushing, he will fall right into where my support was originally. A differential is created at that time. A related article on differential: Opening the trap door from below.
