February 23/24th Maple Ridge workshop.

Well first of all, this was my first time meeting Sifu Chen and I meant to write this as soon as I got back from the workshop and everything was fresh in my head. I say that only because the sheer amount of information taught in this weekend seminar is astounding. In almost every other case you could never hope to learn quite so much on many diverse subjects in this short time for such a low cost. It’s very clear that Sifu Chen is very passionate about just teaching the real deal. Read more

The seminar was amazing. Our teachers and students had the good fortune to be left with not just a lesson in Taiji, but also with lessons to be applied in their lives. Read more

It was really hot that day, but as i did my Yilus and sweat started covering my face, i remembered much of how all of this started, why i originally choose Martial Arts, and everything that lead me to Taiji. I am very impressed with Steve’s demos, he is able to explain his actions exactly like Master Chen with no deviation. It’s like deja-vu. I have heard the same explanations from Master Chen in a different place at a different time. I can learn so much from him.

Every student got to show the circle and get corrections. I was rotating my wrist which feel natural but is wrong. I wouldn’t notice this mistake on my own without being pointed out and feeling the correct arm movement on Master Chen circle.

Dear Mr Chen, thank you for your instruction. A lot of instructors will talk about principles that are really concepts that is subjective like relaxation. It was a real pleasure to work with material that was based on mechanical principles and was repeatable. A real pleasure. (Miles Henderson facebook comment)
