3) Front knee, front kua and rear shoulder form a triangle.
4) The front kua needs to go towards the line between the front knee and rear shoulder. Triangle theory.
5) The front kua should not move.
6) The rear shoulder can only move along the original line between the rear shoulder and the front knee.
7) The kua action must be the primary action, and everything only comes because of it.
8) The shoulder can only go down.
9) The elbow turns towards the dantien.
10) The entire front arm is like a drill bit.

On 1 Dec 2021 during Master Chen Zhonghua’s Chinese Instructor 3 class we were asked to record a video of the first 13 moves of Yilu initiating all moves from the dantian and to ignore the upper body.

A training method we were instructed to emphasise this was to cross your arms and only to use the dantian and legs to complete the form.

The word climbing here refers to the action of finding a solid grip for the foot, stretch the body against the feet till the hand/hands find another solid spot to hold on to, and then pull the body up with the hand till the feet find another solid spot.
All taiji movements in a segmented view is like this (in a smooth way and in a changed direction it is viewed as rotations). This type of movements are called stretching moves.
