After training in the sweltering Shandong heat, morning Yilu’s in Edmonton feel like a walk in the park. It’s not just the temperature though, after training on Daqingshan for three months I feel refreshed, relaxed, inspired and just generally ready to go! You should go too…seriously.

You might wonder why I bring the 1930’s into the equation. Well, to my mind, the 1930’s is where all the trouble started for a lot of students. So what happened in the 1930’s you may ask.
The Daqingshan taiji team participated at the Weifang Martial Arts Competition at the end of last month. The team was led by Master Hong Sen. Today Master Ai, the host of that event is coming to Daqingshan for a courtesy visit. Read more
A friend of Master Chen invited the students to do demonstration during wushu competition in his school. We went there in the morning, had a very nice seafood lunch, and other treats in the afternoon.

We are headed for the Black Tiger Springs Park this Jul 21 morning at 5:00 am. This is a the park where Hong taught towards the end of his life. He started teaching at the Huiquantang area in Jinan and then moved to the Daming Lake area. When I started, he was already teaching in the Black Tiger Springs Park with the assistance of Li Zongqing. [edit: Aug14 video by Paul Janssens]

Daniel Mroz gave a workshop in Brittany, France in June, 2010. The workshop was for a theatre ensemble, Teatr Piba, who work in the Breton language, a minority language in France. The workshop was on voice and movement work for theatre artists and Daniel Mroz taught some fundamentals of Taiji, which is reflected in the photos. Read more

Hunyuan Taiji Academy – Milwaukee is having a Practical Method training session on Saturday July 31st.
The location of the get together is the Prairie du Chien, WI/McGreggor, Iowa area on the beautiful Mississippi River.
Time will be an afternoon and evening session on Saturday and a Sunday morning session.
Hope you can make it, it should be a lot of fun.
