Berlin 2011 2

Hi everybody,

I think now it’s time for a little message from Berlin. Last year in August I did change my Taijiquan classes in Berlin completely to “Practical Method”. Here are some pictures taken this summer.

Meanwhile there is a little group of attendants who got into the practice quite deep in short time, and there are some more who visit my weekly classes regularly.

Come and see what the Chen Style Practical Method as well as the Chen Style Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan and Qigong are all about and what we can do to to give you the best Taiji experience – ever!

You are invited to join us at several events we will be attending this Summer. The first one is the 4th Chen Style Taijiquan Competition being held in Schaumburg, IL on May 22nd. The 2nd event is the AAU-CMA Nationals being held in Louisville, KY (Derby City) on July 9th. The 3rd event will be a weekend of Taijiquan in Iowa. We haven’t locked down a location for this yet. The 2 we are working on is Pike’s Peak Park on the Mississippi River and Cedar Rapids. We will update this when we settle on a location. Hunyuan Taiji Academy – Milwaukee is having a Practical Method training session on Saturday July 31st.
The location of the get together is the Prairie du Chien, WI/McGreggor, Iowa area on the beautiful Mississippi River.
Time will be an afternoon and evening session on Saturday and a Sunday morning session.
Hope you can make it, it should be a lot of fun.

Master Chen gave  some personal instruction during Monday’s class regarding Push Hands. One must be able to  move in without the opponent feeling the move physically. Read more

We of course worked on foundations first.

  1. During the circle, in with elbow, using the frontal muscles. This stretches from the front foot to the front hand, making the line very long.
  2. Out with hand using the back muscles. This stretches from the rear foot to the front hand. Read more
It was good to come to the Edmonton class after a long absence. Thanks to Allan and Yen for taking over classes in my absence. We worked on concept of splitting from the kua, using the “fetch water” as a drill. From the kua and elbow, everything moves down and up with the kua and elbow as the central points. However, the kua must move horizontally forward while the up and down moves are being executed. Here are some photos of the move. Read more
