Taiji S Line Demonstration

by Wilkin Ng on 2010/12/31

Power in Taiji comes from rotation, but how does rotation generate power?.

The key is S-Line structure that can transform rotation to movement.

Power and stability in rotation only come from proper S-Line alignment.

See Taiji S-Line Video Training for detailed explanation.

Wilkin, Master Chen:

A question came up from your recent video posting here. In a video Master Chen posted on the three-way split he mentioned that to get the energy to come out to the front hand the front knee should not drop or go down. Was that mentioned just for “training” purposes, to feel how the energy works? Now I see in watching this short clip, one needs to bend/open the kua and drop the front knee, all the way down to the ground if needed? Can you please clarify. Or perhaps I misunderstood something in the other video.

Thanks!

I watched the Three-Way-Split video again and may have clarified my question. The comment about not dropping the front leg from a point that is below the front kua had to do with the first part of the positive circle. The video Wilkin showed appears to be the last part of the positive circle with the power coming from the back foot and over the back. In this case it appears OK to drop the body.
