I went to the park to train. It’s the end of the school year so schools have picnics. 5 girls approached me and wanted to learn…so I taught them the first posture. Two school officials approached me and inquired…I gave them my background. It’s a private school and the asked me to teach Taiji next school year. I continued to practice…between yilus a group of 15 kids approached me and wanted to learn….public training is good recruitment of students…

I was glad they offered for me to teach at their school! I’m sure the teachers were a bit surprised how quickly I had them organized and provided an immediate lesson. The teacher told me the first 5 girls went back excitedly and showed her what I taught. One of the father’s that was chaperoning the outing sat down and talked with me about what I was doing told me the teachers were wondering if I would be willing to do a presentation at their school. He had his daughter get the school officials and I again explained my work with children and the study I was involved with at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). She directly asked if I would do a lecture at their school. I said I would gladly do it…however, having an ongoing class would be more beneficial as it is accumulates…and.then that was a done deal…took my personal.
information. After some discussion I come to find out She is close friends with a colleague of mine at my office who does trauma sensitive yoga, whom happened to be part of the study with UNI…that sealed our arrangement. I find it humorous because last week Master Zhonghua Chen told me I need to pick up about 20 more students…next school year I will add an entire 7th and 8th grade. I am sure they want to add resources that focuses on mindfulness and sensory awareness to deal with the stressors we have faced this pandemic…regardless…I see it as adding more students…
The boy on the left, 3rd from the end called me over and wanted to show me he could do the first posture on his own. The girl to the left of me dressed in black was very good following specific directions and showed good structure. Several of them thanked me…this will be a good student body to work with.
