The difference between Hunyuan Qigong Video and Detailed Hunyuan Qigong Video:
1. Hunyuan Qigong:
A follow me type of instruction with voice over. I am the person showing the form. The form is done uninterrupted so one can follow it.
2. Detailed Hunyuan Qigong:
I went over the same form as in Hunyuan Qigong video but I am the person giving the detailed explanations. This means that I stop doing the form while giving explanations. This is like a teaching video. You can watch it but cannot use it as a guide to follow as a training session.

Is it best to have both videos or is the detailed Hunyuan video adequate for learning?

You should get the instructional video first. After learning it, you might want to get the detailed video for further learning.

Hello Franz,

You can download the Hunyuan Qigong (basic instruction in a “follow me” format) and Detailed Hunyuan Qigong (detailed explanations for further understanding) instruction DVD’s from this website to your computer directly and inexpensively. It is very quick and you have direct access to the information from your computer. You can also order physical copies of the DVD’s. In addition, there is also the “Way of Hunyuan” book which gives a wealth of information regarding the Hunyuan Qigong System through the personal experience of Master Chen and learned directly from Grandmaster Feng, the founder of the system. The shipping for the book or the actual DVD’s would be standard postal rates from Canada to Germany.

Hello Charles – the cost for the DVD version of the Hujnyuan Qigong Video is $20 and the Detailed Hunyuan Qigong is $30. The Way of Hunyaun Book is $19.99. We recommend downloading the videos as it is cheaper, faster and you can burn your own DVD. however, if you only want to order the hard copy, then the cost would be the listed prices plus standard shipping from Edmonton, Alberta to your destination. These items can be ordered from this site or if there are problems or questions, contact me: allanbelsheim@shaw.ca

In the ‘extra content’ section of the video Master Chen mentions various stages of the process of learning the 12 form. first master the physical movement, then co-ordinate movement with breath, then focus on key point, then mind intent and so on.

This tape (and the ‘detailed’ video, which I also bought) don’t seem to cover co-ordination of breath, visualization etc (though the ‘detailed’ video is very good in terms of explaining the physical movement and there are some hints with respect to the ‘intent’). Where can I find this information? Or is it enough to just master the physical form and practice that?

Specifically with respect to the ‘Sink Qi and cleanse Internally’ move what should I visualize/imagine? Is the Qi gathered up on the upward move then moved through the body when hands move down? Does the Qi flow out through the feet?

Thanks in advance.

The physical body movements must be trained for many years before the next step becomes meaningful. For me, I am still working on the physical aspects. Other aspects are just knowledge for me, not ability yet.
During the move of Sink the Qi and Cleanse Internally, you need to imagine your body does not move. It is like a statue. Your energy rolls down on it like water falling down on a stone statue. The physical body movements must follow the intent like water rolling down the statue. Quite difficult to do. Hope this helps.
No other DVDs at this stage.

Thank you Master Chen.

Extremely Helpful, (as always). When I reach the stage of needing more instruction, I’ll hopefully be able to come to Daqingshan.

My eldest teacher willem DeThouars gave a great explanation towrad chi gong and chi. He said the chi is much more intelligent than a human can fathom. So we should not ever try to move chi. To do so is detrimental toward our developement and health . Just do the work and allow the chi to move itself. Like god we cannot equate to the intelligence of the chi. Would be like telling the chi you are smarter than it. How do you think the chi would respond ? Normally it becomes disruptive… and we would fall out of balance. The key is to trust in trust. Do the work. Allow the chi to heal you. Strengthen you and become miraculous inside and outside of you. It is the only real doctor. The chi to do its own thing. That is the key to any ji gong. So I listen to my teacher . And train. At every level im given a different teacher . After 2 decades it is Chen Zhonghua. strange . He has been floating around my circle since 2000. But I was only fortunate and lucky to start training from him in oct 2013. My other teachers are also phenominal. Im very fortunate.

Could somebody explain the martial benefits of Hunyuan Qigong? Thanks!

I’ve been told (and read online) that learning Qi Gong without direct supervision by a master can be dangerous and result in “QiGong psychosis”. In light of this, is it safe to learn from this DVD? Is there anything to watch out for? (I am sure Master Chen won’t put unsafe material online, but thought I’d check to be sure)

Because of the “closing” at the end of each Qigong form, there has never been a case of Qigong psychosis with the Hunyuan System. It is completely safe to learn from Master Chen’s “Qigong Basic Instruction” or “Qigong Detailed Instruction” DVD’s if there is not an available instructor.

I would like to purchase a hard copy (dvd or video) of hunyuan qigong. How much to order it? Question is this and taiji hunyuan same exercises? Which is best for healing the body? Thank you for reply

I can supply a DVD version of the Hunyuan Qigong if needed, but it will not have a printed label as that is beyond my printer’s capabilities. The cost would be $20 plus shipping for Basic instructions or $30 plus shipping for Detailed Instructions – we have both.
Hunyuan Taiji is a Tai Chi form containing Qigong elements – both are good for healing though Qigong is easier to learn from a video -at least the basics of stance and movements. Contact me at practical_method@outlook.com for more information and ordering.

I recently attended a class to learn this QiGong practice and have been practicing for a month. I find it to be very accessible yet very deep at the same time. I sppreciate the opportunity to have a learning reference I can use not only to develop the basic practice, but to study the movements of Master Chen as well.

I am excited to begin reviewing this video. I recently attended a workshop on this Qi Gong practice and have found it to be very accessible yet very deep at the same time. This program has come at just the right time in my life and I am very grateful for the opportunity to learn.

Hi,
I first came across the Hun yuan Qigong on dvd about 11 years ago. This prompted me to contact Master Chen directly, to see if he would be interested in coming to Ireland. As it turns out he did, while also giving workshops in Europe. I cannot recommend the Hunyuan Qigong dvd enough, it is very inspiring. I am very privileged to have learnt in person from Master Chen, he also introduced me to the Practical Method. I would in addition recommend GM Feng’s book on this Qigong system (translated by Master Chen)

Master Chen question please. I saw master Feng doing hunyun on a youtube video no narrative speaker. Is your hunyun instruction teaching video the same movements as his on the youtube video?

Charles, not knowing which of Grandmaster Feng’s videos you watched to compare with Grandmaster Chen’s instruction I can only say that Grandmaster Chen Zhonghua was taught directly by Feng for all Hunyuan forms whether Qigong or Taiji. In fact, the 48 form was first taught to Grandmaster Chen after Feng completed it.
Feng’s forms were always a work in progress and there would be subtle and less subtle changes through the years as he perfected the movements. Grandmaster Chen would visit yearly and if the previous year’s changes were still in place, he would then update our class to the hopefully permanent changes. Grandmaster Chen was in constant contact with Grandmaster Feng until he died. Grandmaster Feng noted that Grandmaster Chen Zhonghua was one of his more knowledgeable students.
Bottom line: whatever Grandmaster Chen teaches concerning the Hunyuan System is completely authentic and acknowledged by his sifu and friend Grandmaster Feng.

I am so happy to have this recording. I owned the DVD and practiced for a couple of years, then lost the DVD when I moved. This is a powerful transformational practice, even for those of us who know very little of Chinese culture and Chinese medicine. Thank you for making it available in this format.

These qi-gong movements are simple in outline but difficult to master. Shifu Chen’s body movements are a total joy to watch, and illustrate very clearly how to move. Thank you.
