Roy Croucher private review 20201028
– worked on corrections for positive circles
– as Roy was rehabbing a sore knee Zhonghua Chen demoed how to relieve pressure on the knee by opening kua correctly (see video for specifics)
– Zhonghua Chen showed Roy a specific drill as a seated exercise, to take pressure off of Roy’s knee, to practice locking and stretching to gain range of motion within each kua structure
– in PM part of the teaching process involves ‘feeding’, see video for examples where Zhonghua Chen places Roy’s body parts into certain positions then describes how Roy should arrange his body to perform movement more correctly
– when we are planning to go somewhere we have to consult the map before making the trip
– learn to plan your training as consciously and deliberately as you would plan a vacation trip
– learn how when you are in contact with an opponent that any movement within the body becomes perceptible to the opponent, becomes a surface for the opponent to connect and react to, give them nothing to react to
– need to learn how to and then practice ‘grinding’ out joint surfaces until they are so smooth they slide or glide as they open and ‘go over’
– learn how to relax and open shoulders and kua to take the pressure off of the body, makes body more efficient and it takes less stress
– learn to get shoulder/kua to move together, make changes in range of motion gradual over time to reduce chances of training injuries
– learn how to ‘sink’ (see video), part of sinking is to create and maintain ‘back bow’ at will]
– never let go of locking, draw big moves with the kua and get body to move with kua, learn how to ‘swing’ moves
…learning to live, a breath at a time…
