Maple Ridge workshop review

by Wilkin Ng on 2011/10/09

[singlepic id=3715 w=200 h=150 float=left] Coming to this workshop I wanted to ask Master Chen about some lofty concepts I read recently of Ting 听 Wen 問 Na 拿 Fa 発, also about energy movement I felt in my yilu.

After some discussion and hand on demonstration I come to conclude that it is better to stick with basic body mechanic. Thinking along the line of feeling energy movements seem a waste of time. If the body mechanic is correct all these things will happen by itself. Along with yilu correction, there is lots of push hand instruction this weekend. A good workout, and also good way to expose error in my  mechanic, something I can work on thru yilu practice. [nggallery id=139]

It was great to meet you all and gain a better understanding from Master Chen. His teaching style and understanding of Taijiquan is second to none. I love how he mixes traditional knowledge, science, patience and humor into his teaching method. Getting to feel the popping sensation from working out with Master Chen solidifies my belief that Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method is what Chen Fake originally taught and what is worth spending a lifetime practicing. Looking forward to coming back as much as possible and continuing my practice. Thank you Master Chen and everyone at Maple Ridge!
