I made my taiji chan gun tonight in 2010.
I re-created my taiji chan gun with slight modification in 2020. Now the shovel is gone.

Did you use a painter’s pole for the stick? Is that a little small in diameter for you, or OK? I made one using some 1 1/2″ pvc pipe which seems OK for my hand as I have long fingers. Is the picture showing the stand at full extension or is that how you normally use it as it seems a little high/tall? How much weight are you using? Nice!

Gary, I had to wrap the grip to make it thicker. I went to look at the PVC pipe. 1 1/4″ one will work better for me. I’ll see how my current setup works to see if I need to switch to use a PVC pipe. The picture is showing the lowest setting, and it seems ok for me. I currently put in a 2.5 lb plate.

Indeed, I am an engineer. I put that together with the material I found at home.
