Zoom review 20201027
– body does not know how to PM lock without distress, we must learn to investigate the distress the locking of the body creates as part of learning the art
– according to Yin/Yang procedure we must try to do what is opposite of ‘normal’, normally we wish to be comfortable, must try to get the body to actually accomplish the exact moves that Zhonghua Chen gives us, must learn to get the body to go to the extremes, comfort is the trap
– we practice showing our deficiencies so that our teachers can correct our mistakes and we can begin to move ‘inhumanely’, essential to invest in failure
– you must never be comfortable in training, always walk the tightrope, gradually increase the intensity and difficulty of the movement patterns being worked on
– the shape of the movements cannot be changed, to be PM moves the body cannot evade or escape any of the discomfort or it’s not correct
– try to do Yilu at the extremes, especially as a beginner, always close to tipping over on the tightrope
– trying to complete a full Yilu, at this level of extremity of movement, should be literally impossible
– learn to create the feeling of separating the bone from the surrounding soft tissues
– sometimes/often the use of a real solid object in our training procedures can create increased learning
– real objects can help to change the ways we move
– everything besides bone tissue must learn how to stretch, significantly and at will
– in doing ‘twist towel’ use a long/low horse stance, go to extremes, go so far as to lose balance as part of learning the limits of our instruments (body)
– training is meant to expose our vulnerabilities and then to correct same
– must train with ‘real’ moves
– learn to make the kuas create very large movements while keeping knee and foot locked in place
…learning to live, a breath at a time…
