Nice rotation! Hugo, just to be sure that I’m correct about the “internal” details, were your right foot and right kua fixed (no movement) and your right elbow tugging down as you rotated to the right? Assuming also that your right kua was stretching as you rotated? More to the point, something that I’m not sure is when you tugged the practicing partner was it his left shoulder or some other location? I guess what I’m asking is where is the line that you are tugging (e.g., are you rotating around the line/axis connecting your partner’s shoulder and your own right foot)?
Hi James, just wanted to point out first that Xavier and I were just working on a drill. So what I was *trying to do* was roughly:
– keep my right kua fixed
– keep my right elbow in (hahaha)
– stretch my waist *back* toward my rear kua
– push with my left arm off my rear kua
You can see I let go my rear kua (approx 7 sec) as Xavier started to topple.
Really the only good thing about this vid on my part is that my front kua was kind of stable.
Xavier, on the other hand, had a really solid lock on the front axis (front kua -> shoulder (and locked his front elbow very well too)).
As far as your last question, you can see that Xavier pushed himself off my left arm (which was powered up) in order to fall into his empty area. Had I actually kept my right elbow in, he may have spun a lot more. Theoretically.
Thanks for your comments!
Thanks Hugo! Good details that could not be observed by me otherwise. Will try the drill with partners here. Hope to see more of your posts coming!
