Master Chen:
Thank you for a fabulous 4 day Workshop in Toronto. I will not endeavor to list all the many reasons why. But clearly this is seminar not to be missed by any student desiring to more quickly elevate their own training. Your experience, ability, personal attention and teaching methods are without equal. Existing and potential students serious about taiji should RUN, not walk, to your seminars. To be your student is an honor and gift valuable beyond measure. Your principles for properly executing technique is as unchanging as the physical laws of the universe. There are many things we hope to one day understand. But the ability to develop fundamental structural abilities in yilu, including stretching, rotation, movement without movement, no slack, peng energy, etc. are within our grasp and precious gifts in their own right. Thank you to Kelvin for being a great host and taiji brother. Sincerely,
Matt Landau

I concur with the “running” part. If people are hesitating to whether attend or not attend a workshop by Master Chen Zhonghua, especially if they are already spending money, time and energy in developing taiji skills, they should simply take the plunge. I might be biased, but I’m quite certain that unimaginable new vistas would be opened.

This workshop was amazing. It really makes me feel good to learn something completely new (or at least try), and in Master Chen’s classes there are so many opportunities for this.

In this workshop, we had one true first-timer coming from Kitchener, Lisbeth Haddad, who was Allan Haddad’s mom. Two other folks, Matt Landau and Wolfgang Biggs, were new to the Toronto workshop, but not new to Practical Method. The group consisted of people from Toronto, Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Kitchener, Guelph, London (Ontario), Winnipeg, and New York. We enjoyed a very informative and exhausting workshop by Master Chen. Since most people were familiar with yilu, we spent much more time training the first 13 moves than previous workshops and Master Chen gave individual corrections. We were all given a focus area in the form for improvements, and he would check for our progresses in the next workshop. We also practised the applications of the first and second moves, and those moves would only be effective with the support of core strength and the ability to maintain a fixed point. Hope to see all soon at the next workshop!
