Hi, just some thoughts here i actually wanted to post on the specific category, but that is not possible anymore. It deals with shoulder and Kua and the connections between the trigrams.The Kua is associated with the element of fire. If you imagine the trigram you find both solid lines having embraced the weak. That is one solid surface from the femur-head and the one from the pelvis. Inbetween the “soft” synovial fluid.
In the shoulder it is somehow opposite. The trigram of water is two weak lines having a solid center. The upper arm head is the solid part, the muscles and sinews the soft ones giving the shoulder great freedom.
In the joint, the part coming from the scapula can be neglected as a solid surface since it is not restricting the movements by the small surface it has.
So according to this model, if you can extinguish the fire in the opponents kuas with the fire water ( hehe) of your shoulders he can´t move anymore . That is strange, since i can not remember dreaming to become a fireman in my childhood.

Niko, I created a post for your comment and added a picture, hope you can write more about this. Did you come up about this relation by yourself? For me, I try to reverse my old way of pushing from the shoulder to pushing from the rear kua, in a way it conforms with what you wrote, that the shoulder should be a fluid conduit of power, while fire is generated from the kua.

The interplay of the elements within the human body is of course covered in many Daoist Writings. So i am surely influenced by concepts i read so far. But the idea to apply this on joints came spontaniously while musing about things. At that time i also studied The Book quite intensely. If you could extract informations from this post, that helped you, makes me feel really happy. Can´t wait to meet you all again.

here i just want to recall an old method that can be very powerfull in addition to your training. Especially for people with weight-problems and excess of untrained muscles. The method is so easy since you are not supposed to do some thing. Stop eating for one month. You get hungry but you decide not to eat.
So the fire within you burns everything that is not needed.
If you decide to give it a try, please consult a physician for monitoring.
Also no soft-drinks nor alcohol is allowed. Just stay with water and vegetable stock.
Giving your body this stimulus can sharpen your perception of body-mind interactions. Some herbs might also help.
A few weeks ago, i discovered an important thing. When training with Martin we tried to do the exercise in the video “Full”, where you want to create a stretch on the opponents arm. I think i got the concept. Out of this, Martin then locked my arm in order to break it or throw me around. Then suddenly i noticed, that i just have to rotate my shoulder joint internally and all the applied force dissipated. I discovered this internal rotation a year ago or so, but i didn´t realize what to do with it. Now i know what you can do with it. It is just amazing, because i think now it is almost impossible for untrained people to lock my arm.
Good job Niko, this is why it is important to have external force applied to oneself to check one’s progress.

This progress is the result of the teaching of Master Chen. Can´t imagine what my life would be now without meeting him. In fact, i can find no way to thank Master Chen.
