Shifu: Hello from sunny Hong Kong! Weather has been hot, yes 25 degrees hot till yesterday. We are down to a chilling 20 degree now with a light breeze.
My practice has taken me to this point: I feel a point in my upper back, along my spine. I feel as though I could use that point like it is leaning against a wall. I think that could be referred to as a diantian. Previously, maintaining balance during push hands was more a matter of the lower body, namely, my legs or kua. By with this point in the back I am able to better control in coming forces. The best way I could describe it is that it is like a reference point where I could launch a defence along with the kua. I am able to upset my opponent with greater ease, I noticed.
My questions are as follows:
Is this right?
If it is right, is that diantian?
If it is a diantian, could it be moved to another point, and how? And as I remember, it could also be moved to outside the body, how?
Thanks!
Nicholas

This means you have moved up another level. Here is some information for your practice:
1. We don’t use the word dantian. 2. The dot is what makes and takes energy. 3. The dot in the back (upper back) is directly related to the hands. Therefore it is for technique only. It will make you feel you are better than before but only from a technique point of view. Eventually there will be one dot lower than the waist. That one is related to the feet.
Keep up the good work. More Yilus.
Damn it, more Yilus does work! I guess that is why our ancestors were so smart. Progress is built in to it, you really don’t need to think much but repeat it according to the principles.
Yeah, I tested my technique on a friend of mine staying over, and watching your videos with me. I was able to sort of fold/crush him between my hands and that dot.
Ok, one related to the feet, I think I have a foggy idea about how that might take shape. What about the dot outside the body? Could you please give me a ray of hope on that?
There is a reason why I did not say more than I did.
I thought the same. Ok, more Yilus. It was encouraging to have something manifested. Thanks, Shifu.
