I will be traveling to Lansing Iowa on November 13th to lend my limited experience to my brother taiji players in Iowa. We will work on Foundations, Forms, Applications, a bit of push hands play and some Qigong. I should get to Lansing by 2:00 PM on Saturday November 13th and we will play until it gets to dark, to cold, or we get to hungry or to tired. We will start again around 9:00AM on Sunday morning and go until noon or 1:00PM and then close up and head for home while it is still light out. Our plans are to hold the workout at Mt Hosmer Park in Lansing. This park overlooks the beautiful Mississippi River and is in the North East corner of the state. There are motels on both sides of the river. For further information contact John Upshaw at 319-404-3962. All are invited to attend and join in on the festivities.

The Upper-Midwest Chen Taijiquan Mini Workshop was fun, provided opportunity for growth, and strengthened the bonds of our small Chen clan. With that being said, I sit here today humbled in the knowledge of how much my Taiji sucks. Comparatively, from 3 months ago, a year ago, 2 years ago…the feeling of suckiness, if there is such a word, has decreased. During the group practice I find myself significantly less in my head that allows me to truly be in the moment. I attribute this to daily practice and an investment that encompasses my mind, heart, body and spirit…I sit here with ideas to incorporate into my practice that is basic and specific yet very difficult…such as doing positive circles with a stick vertical in front of the kua and behind the shoulder…there is no immediacy and huge leaps of progress…it is simply moving forward at what ever pace it goes influenced by practice…so at this time I am accepting I suck less that the time I did before…I say this humorously, yet with sincerity…
Thanks for the great time Tim. John as well for hosting. The instruction was great as usuall.
I was very happy with the progress you both have made. It makes me work harder so I can become a better teacher and to keep on learning. I look forward to January when we will meet again.
