Some keywords related to these 2 videos: aim, adjust, line up, indirect power, middle.
In the 1st video, Master Chen teaches us how to connect two points, line them up. The action of lining them up is called adjustment, and the purpose is to aim.
We usually use hand and elbow as the first pair to practice, we call it “the hand must be in the elbow” and “the elbow must be in the hand”. When they line up, it became like a dead stick which can fully transfer the power to the other end. And that’s “indirect power”.
In the 2nd video, Master Chen started to show some variations of this idea. At 1:00, instead of lining up hand and elbow, he lines up his elbow and the student’s back. Using this example, he shows how he should’t move the stick, so the power of him moving forward can transfer to the student.
1:50 Master Chen shows how we should adjust during contect, instead of moving around and lose the aim.
From 2:50, Master Chen starts to show us how and where to aim, where is the middle. And from 4:30, he started to focus on where is the middle and how to not move the middle and move around it.
From 5:50 and 6:50, he shows when someone is strong and have a good structure, the middle can be far away. And by manipulating our own structure, we can create a much bigger size to over come it.
From 8:50 he shows how in one angle the student is very long, but by switching angle, he became very short.
