Master Chen has made me have many realizations about Taiji, but this by far is the most important. My old way of practicing was to devote a lot of time practicing wuji…standing still…..paying a lot of attetion to the center. Then I would practice “taiji” paying alot of attention to movement in a fluid and continuous manner. These were basically two seperate practices that I guess I expected would someday link up somehow. I can see now the importance of these two practices needing to be going on at the same time in order to really have Taijiquan….
An extra video added as we realized after that the first video is already part of the Body Function 2012
This video is very important. Without this understanding , achievement will not be likely.
The first video is the first 5+ minutes of Body Part Functions 2012. If you are debating between that one and this one get the other one. Having said that, the first video shows important physical training methods. A lot of what we learn in Taijiquan is how to move and the Shifu Chen teaches this explicitly here. The second video is an illustration of what is meant by intent or intention and how that is related to the anchor point.
