On April 9th there was an AAU Chinese Martial Arts Tournament in Columbia, MO. I was invited as a judge and Levi Sowers and one of his students made the drive from Iowa City, Iowa to compete. Levi won a gold medal in Moving Step Push hands and a Silver medal for his performance of Yilu. Jeff won a Gold medal in Restricted Step Push Hands and a Silver Medal in Moving Step Push Hands. It was a great experience for all of us.

Congratulations to both of you! Did did us proud! The silver for form is a given as we don’t get gold in forms in China either. Practical Method is not common in China among the popular styles so it is hard for judges to see what we are doing.
Congratulations Levi and Jeff!
Yes, a very big “Congratulations Levi and Jeff!” Very well done!
Congratulations! Regards to Tim Duehring! Wish you healthy and happy!
Levi, in regard to push hands, at this stage, remember you job is not to push with hands, rather, it is to take the opponent’s power from where you are touched to your own rear foot. Your hands should on be used to “Bo” (lever, trigger).
Thank you Shifu.
