‘Don’t Move’

by Daniel Mroz on 2011/04/17

I was just re-reading the conversation between Michael Winkler, Xavier Santiago and Tim Duehring about Push Hands (http://practicalmethod.com/2010/12/some-experience-with-push-hands/). My main problem in push hands is that because I think of myself as small and light, I tend to move away from my partner’s force rather than staying put and rotating. I keep coming back to this clip of Buster Keaton’s best stunt ever for inspiration!

The principle is not “Don’t Move”. The principle illustrated is “Find an Opening”.

You mean “Find a Hole!”

If you don’t move, a hole will be created!
