Certainly we did a lot of circles and foundational exercises. Not enough Yilu this weekend. Great workshop. Thank you every body!
Joseph in the airport.
I agree. I thought we could have done more Yilu. I went home and tried doing 3 Yilu and tried to keep my shoulders down and my hands somewhat still. I learned a lot this weekend and I know I have a lot to work on. I am beginning to see the lines a bit more. Before I really couldn’t tell. I found the exercise with our arms stretched out and feeling the energy along this line was really helpful. I think the idea of taking one move and breaking it down may be helpful. If I try to do it all through the form I often forget the next move.
“I think the idea of taking one move and breaking it down” Helen is referring to a method I taught this weekend. When doing Yilu repetitions don’t worry about details or anything technical. Then you can take one move out and try to do it correctly with all the technical and philosophical points in mind.
Yes we should of done more Yilu, next workshop we will have to do extra Yilu’s. We had lots of good theory this workshop, now our job is to try and incorporate the theories into our movements.
