In Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method, body functions are very important. This means that each part of the body has its own functions. It is not a case of the whole body working as ONE. That phrase might have been used but the meaning is not literal.Length: 12:47 minutes分钟 By: Chen Zhonghua and Ronnie Yee陈中华和余永安 Language: English英文 Year: 2007年
It is also sometimes called the division of labor in my previous teaching. This feature is one of the distinguishing characteristics of Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method. The principle involved in this is “complex tasks are accomplished by each body part doing its own job”. Crossing function is considered a violation of taiji rules.
If you are interested in knowing more about this, please purchase the 12-minute online viewing clip here. In it, Master Chen Zhonghua explains the functions and restrictions of each body part within the system of Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method.

Instructive video!!, Master Chen showed how various body parts should line up during the circles and other moves. I like the detailed explanation on the kua, a crucial link for proper power generation.
I think this was filmed in one of the Victoria workshop with Ronnie doing the demonstration.
I have practiced Modified Yang of Chen Man Ching. My comments are meant to contribute. Also I admire what I see Master Chen Z. in videos. My conclusion is that the moving as one idea is intended to mean coordination of a particular type, sequential and able to deliver rooted force. Professor Cheng spoke of it as being like an ocean wave. And yet, in my experience of his pushes, I feel that he moved like a pyramid or a mountain, toward me as an irresistible momentum, which is more like one piece. Also, he had a mysterious ability to spring me off his elbow, after I had merely pushed it lightly and horizontally, which felt as if I had jumped onto a springboard for divers, over a swimming pool, throwing me up into the air. It can be seen in one of his later NYC videos, and it looks like his arm is an upward spring with minimal movement. But his body is still. So it could be considered one springy piece, I guess.
