Great lesson on fundamentals of indirect power. Many important and lesser known details come out during the teaching session, such as how to use a point in empty space as a center to proportionally separate from, creating the dot. Master Chen shows different methods of proportionally matching and talks about using stealth, and non threatening moves to gain strategic position without the opponent being aware of the danger, which is another aspect of indirect power. Splitting the body and assigning different body parts to preform different functions is discussed in numerous examples including separating dantien movement from the back, and separating the engaged part of the body from the powering generating part of the body. How to use gravity and sinking energy is discussed as well as how to overcome a heavier opponent with shape and length. There is a lot more, it is a really excellent and very clear video. Highly recommended.
Very clear audio/video with smooth camera work. Master Chen talks about the still point, and moving proportionally away from it, along with matching size; very easy to understand here. He also teaches a great drill using ‘brush the knee’ to create an attachment, then use indirect power by lowering the body and rotating. Additionally there’s a very good lesson on understanding old vs new frame as he discusses Chen Fakes view tword teaching method. Lots of information in a great martial training setting, this video is well worth the affordable price.
Important video!
