Very good video talking about leverage in Taiji. Master Chen made it easier for us to understand why “don’t move” is important in lever application. I personally love his kungfu talk in second part.
This video certainly talks about lever as the title suggests. More importantly, it talks about what we are looking forward to achieving with Practical Method. I love this video as it gets me very excited.
1. To make the lever work, we need to anchor the end point which is the fixed point, make sure that the contact point with the opponent does not move (called Zhuo), and lastly the hand or the powering point does not slide on the lever or change position.
2. We need to train to change the quality in our bodies. We need to be strong enough to be the crowbar/lever that can be used to pry the opponent. If the lever breaks or changes shape, the action won’t work.
3. Some people train for speed, some train for muscle power, we in Practical Method train for structure and the ability to adjust the structure.
Hello! Thank you for this video, it is really helpful on training how to limit mistakes while issuing power. Where can I find the video on how to stay on?

Thank you studentofmethod and Kelvin for your help!
During this video Master Chen, at 1″40′ says there is a video about the concept of STAYING ON…he highly recommends it…it sounds like the title of the video is DRA, OR DRAW, OR SOME OTHER WORD..I can’t make out what he is saying and I want to buy the video…anyone know what I am talking about…it is in regard to the concept of fastening yourself onto the handle of the lever by using this method of STAYING ON
Hey Patrick, here’s the video your looking for , a very important one. The method of “adhere” in taiji is something I think a lot of people think they are doing, but they are missing the key points and methods to train it. If we cant adhere correctly there’s no hope of connecting and sticking etc…

He is saying “zhuo” which sounds a bit like jew-ouh …
I kind of figured you would be the one to figure it out….you are the man Bruce….thanks brother…..
