This is a great lesson on the “move/no move” relationship as applied to getting in on your opponent. Every martial art has it’s methods of “getting in”, but we can see that Master Chen’s is quite unique and directly tied to this very fundamental principle relationship of Yin Yang separation, and learning to move different body parts independently while others remain stable and unmoving. This incrememntal way of “inching in” on your opponent, makes them feel as if you are not fighting with them, but you are gaining advantage in position while maintaining structure and peng.
