Traditionally in Chinese martial arts teachers would not explain much and it’s up to the student to steal the art if they’re smart enough… Maybe that’s how the teachers in the past weeded out the talented and serious students from the rest. so maybe people want to look in other spots besides the one you’re pointing out because they think there must be something else and want the secret. As if you are a magician and what you’re showing is a slight of hand trick.
On what evidence do you base your assertion that “Traditionally in Chinese martial arts teachers would not explain much and it’s up to the student to steal the art if they’re smart enough…”
What evidence do I have that old teachers held back? What evidence do you have that they DIDN’T? gimme a break! LOL Not all teachers of course taught the same of course some more generous than others but often that’s how it was. The way master Chen teaches today to the public is certainly not the traditional way.
Master Chen is different because he can do what he teach, and has worked in education before becoming full time taiji teacher. So students should listen to his words, and if possible, see him to feel what he is talking about.
Well Said.
