Hello Gouming Shou,
The Damascus Broadsword will be available when Master Chen returns to Edmonton June 11 so shipping will not resume before that time. It is worth the wait, as another sword shop is selling a similar stock sword from Longquan for more than three times what we charge for our custom blade.

The Full Time training will be starting around the middle of September until the middle of December (actual times to be set soon), and you can come for as little as a week up to the full 3 months. Cost is $455 for a week, $770 for 2 weeks, $2400 for two months and this year, $3150 for the three months.
Thank you for your interest and hope to hear from you again,

Hello!
I have been practicing Yang style Tai Chi for 2 years, and I am interested in learning Chen style. The school that I am studying at now focuses only on the health side of the art and I would love to be able to study Tai Chi as a comprehensive whole. My brother told me that ‘Joseph Chen’ is extremely talented and there is a school in Edmonton. And so, my search has brought me to this web site.I am curious what the standard class rates are and I am also curious about full time training– how much that costs and if you can do a week at a time, months at a time or year round?
Thank you, I look forward to talking more.

Thanks again master Chen. - bruce.schaub 论 Sun Style Taijiquan 97-Form has the same sequence of moves as yilu
Yes it bears very close resemblance to Wu (Hao) style because the creator of Sun style (Sun Lu Tang), who’s daughter is in the video, learned his taiji from Hao Wei Zhen who learned of course from the creator of Wu style (Wu Yu Xiang)….interestingly, the story as I was told anyway, is that Wu Yu Xiang was a student of Yang Lu Chan (who learned Chen style Yilu from Chen Chang Xing)…at a certain point in Wu’s training Yang sent Wu to Chen village to train with Chen Chang Xing himself but he ended up learning a smaller frame Chen style from Chen Qingping…he later returned to train further with Yang and eventually founded his own style Wu style (sometimes referred to as Wu Hao style for his famous student Hao Wei Zhen who passed it to Sun Lu Tang)..not to be mistaken with the much more well known Wu style of Wu Jian Quan, which was created by his father Quan Yu. Simply put all the other styles are derivitives of Yang Lu Chan’s teachings. Even the modern yang style is derived from Yangs (old frame) called guang ping which looks even closer to Yilu (surprise surprise) :-0 ….in terms of shapes anyway….but the important thing to realize is that Yilu is really the foundation for all the other taiji that’s been created……
- kokhongw 论 Sun Style Taijiquan 97-Form has the same sequence of moves as yilu
Interesting clip…the movements seems to be closer to Wu style although the form sequence is similar to Chen yilu.

This video really helped me to see and understand the gears more clearly. The section from 18:30-20:00 was particularly clear for me, in that the incremental seperation of the two actions of sink, rotate, sink, rotate….is like two gears meshing together…seperate actions but producing a unified effect. After listening to the lecture that follows, it made me think that smoothness in Taiji has not to do with appearance but more precision and quantity of seperation. where when we start we might have a clunky machine with only 5 teeth in our gears with a lot of space between gears so they bang together…at least we have real seperation. Over time we can work to have a thousand teeth in our gears that are machined tightly causing that incremental separated smoothness. It reminds me of a worm drive type of gear….as always thank you so much and makes my heart warm to think of you today and to see the eighteen balls living on in this video!

Question:
The hands must at all times spin outwards from the center of the body, while the elbow must at all times spin inward towards the center of the body. While on the positive circle in-stroke this is clear, how does the elbow spin inwards on the out-stroke?

Excellent topic on how to connect and link to issue jing effectively. Different scenarios, from single to multiple connections, are clearly explained AND demonstrated in this valuable 12-minute lesson. Provides clear and identifiable goals for advancement in the practice of taijiquan, irrespective of style.
- 卡洛斯•汉森 论 “2011年太极用法视频”视频花絮
The explanation of the eight energies expands on what I have read in the past. The energies are clear to me now. I especially like that I am no longer stuck on “elbow strike” and “shoulder strike” as definitions of two of the energies. I can more easily understand they are just examples.
The Taiji applications provide clear examples of the great multitude of possibilities. Each movement does not have just one application. The fact that the foundations are found in Yilu, and Yilu is found in Cannon Fist is particularly enlightening. There is a clear path from simple to complex, from practice to application.

Very sad to hear this. He is an excellent master who I truely love. I had real good experience with him and learn from him. I treated him in my hotel room when I saw he had some medical issues; I gave him some recomendations. He treated me like a daughter, a good friend, I feel he treated all his student like family. At time I asked him if he want to stay with me for a year so that I can help his medical issue. But he really did not want to travel anymore.
I I learn so much from him, both martial art and life. I miss him and will miss him forever.

My sincere condolences on the death of grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang to his family, to Master Chen and to all those that feel this deep loss. He will be sadly missed by the taiji community. GM Feng Zhiqiang , eighteenth generation GM of Chen Style Taijiquan gave the world an extraordinary gift by creating the exceptional system Chen Shi Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan practiced and valued around the world. Indeed he lived his dream to make mankind better through the Chinese taiji .
I am very moved by this news, however I am glad that GM Feng Zhiqiang lived to see his disciple Master Chen bringing his skills, experience, Chen Style Taijiquan and the Hunyuan system to a new dimension by imparting it actively, intensively, with the whole world using best teaching style and new technologies. He always will be present in our hearts through his legacy.Respectfully,

Very sad news. I had the great honour of meeting Grandmaster Feng while studying at the main school in Beijing. Even though he was retired, he would come in on Saturday mornings to watch some of the lessions. His great love for what he did was clear for all to see, with him often demonstrating different aspects of the art to those lucky enough to be present.
My lasting memory though will not just be of meeting a legend of the martial arts world. It will be of meeting a true human being, a man who had time for everyone, a great sense of consideration for others and simply a love of life.
My deepest condolences to all family, friends, disciples and students.
