Massimo Neresini attended the WKU competition in Padua on Feb. 5, 2012. He won three gold medals and one silver in Taijiquan.

Fan form, yang sword 42 and yang form  42 Beijing form and gold medal in Chen Style performing the YILU with the compliments from two referees that hadn’t seen such live performance before!. They were really enthusiastic to see the YILU Hong practical Method!

Learning taiji online is impossible, but not impractical.  The key to getting the most benefit outside of the classroom involves understanding what can be achieved and what can not be achieved and through this understanding develop goals that are obtainable.  Read more

This December I had the honour of being invited to teach an introductory workshop on the Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method. I’d been to Brittany twice before to work with the theatre company Teatr Piba and this time my friend and colleague Erwan Cloarec asked me to also teach Taijiquan.

This time a long time student of Master Chen James Chan from Philadelphia joined us. Lots of push hand on Sunday as four students from Seattle joined us. Topics covered:

  • In yilu, finish the move and add one: don’t connect the moves together.
  • Door jam principle in push hand.
  • Complete your move in push hand, dont get distracted.
  • To execute on 45 line it feels less friction than meeting opponent force head on, but students always choose to resist and fight instead.

Scot Jorgensen fought at continuous scoring in the karate system. Won silver.


Scot Jorgensen at 65 kg won the 85 kg division at this fight.

  1. Massimo Neresini silver medal at an International Competition in Massa Carrara (PWKA professional wushu kungfu association)
  2. Massimo Neresini golden medal and a cup for the best athlete in Taijiquan at the National Competition in Jesolo
  3. Leo Neresini Bronze medal performing the Yilu at the same competitions.

This is the first time I have attended a local four days workshop, the extra time let me have a deeper impression on what I learnt. Bruce from Denver, Lee from Saskatoon, and Linlin from New Hampshire attended, along with regulars from Seattle and Victoria island.
