Entice into Emptiness 2 Online Video Trailer

by Shopmaster on 2010/12/16

Master Chen Zhonghua used 8 chapters in this video lesson to teach how to bring the opponent’s power into your own rear foot and at the same time move his body away.

In making contact with the opponent, one must always take the opponent’s power to his/her own rear foot. This Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method principle governs the energy pattern in push hands situations and when applying an application. Here are a few factors/rules to follow:

1. Take the oncoming power to your own rear foot.
2. Never meet with oncoming power with resistance.
3. Do not redirect the oncoming power on initial contact.
4. Redirection is quick but after taking the power to the rear foot.
5. Redirection cannot use power.

The concept/general idea is explained and you see 2 students practice plus corrections.
It’s helpful to get a better understanding of how to deal with an incoming force, how to get it “down” and how to redirect it.

“Where do you guide the opponent’s incoming energy?” is a fundamental question in push-hands practice. This video provides the answer directly AND much more. It also explains how to redirect the energy back to the opponent in three key steps. The valuable 27-minute video by Master Chen Zhonghua, International Standard Bearer of Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method, even explains how to go into advanced training, whereby the anchor in the first step can be substituted by any spot in the body by choice. To top off, Master Chen goes into details on how to bypass redirection using timing without creating conflict (i.e., no interruption of opponent’s incoming energy). Concrete steps in training are provided explicitly step by step. This video has great value and is highly recommended.
