Excellent video. Explained the problem of too much / excessive waist movement. I have heard it called “noodling”. This is common in most taiji styles. We read of using the waist and “noodling” is the result. This is the first explanation of using the kua to direct the waist that I have heard. Also, the concept of moving more with the kua rather than the waist was new to me but made sense. Very eye opening. Master Chen’s insight is very keen. I am seeing that what is truly taichi is the opposite of what I understood it to be.

Gary,

Where are you located? I am sure that you will benefit a lot from Master Chen’s workshop. Besides the full time class at Daqingshan, he has workshops at a number of cities around the world.

Kelvin:

I am in Houston, Texas, USA. Wish I was further north or up in Canada, would love to take some workshops from Master Chen. Would love to be able to “feel” how he moves and generates the power.

This is a great video! It shows how the power from the lower body is channeled into the waist and upper body.

这个视频和我过去认为的正好相反

是”胯帶動腰” 還是 “腰帶動胯”?

從 “根在腳,發於腿,主宰於腰,形於手”
我一直以為 是腰做主宰.

Very good video, and very important in the explaining of the practical method. This video connects and touches on many areas of the practical method, including converting vertical to horizontal force, use of the kua, and the switching between them. Very clear, and helpful. Thanks.
