“Zhuo” video is fantastic. I have heard Master Chen say that in many ways your ” Zhuo Fa” is a measure of your taiji skill. I have never heard such a detailed explanation of something that is seemingly simple but in actuality is a very big and advanced (complex) topic. Because it has everything to do with how you connect and transmit power to your opponent. This is the type of taiji “special transmission” that only happens for indoor students, but here it is out in the open, for everyone (smart enough to realize how generous Master Chen is being) to benefit from! Awesome !

Have you ever wondered how a skilled practitioner in Taijiquan can unbalance an opponent with a relatively small action, such as an apparent rotation of a wrist or arm? It is a high-level skill that is based on adhering or sticking (Zhuo 着), plus trained application of leverage. In this 16-minute video, Master Chen Zhonghua leads you step-by-step through two drills: involving one-hand contact and two-hands contact by an opponent on your arm. These two drills will help you to discover and manipulate the different factors that control direction, movement, pressure, size, sensitivity, and compression of contact Taijiquan. Near the end of the video, Master Chen lifts up the curtain on how to combine Zhuo with a rotation (fine-drawn skill in applying leverage) to generate that “mysterious power” and ability known to send someone “flying” across the room.
