A very helpful review of many mistakes in preforming a positive circle.

I learned to really rotate the shoulder, dantian and kua to make “room” for the first half of the circle. Then to rotate back each component for the second half of the circle and release at the end.

The concept of keeping room between each joint, e.g., elbows, shoulders, kuas and knees helps create proper proportions and the fullness we aim for. Warping the torso works to create space while not breaking the vertical line.

I’m getting a lot out of these corrections as well. Energy in straight form, but conflict hidden in the corners. Very helpful instruction on “warping”. Adding hidden dimension to support the circle. “In is out, withdraw is to issue”. Opening the back to power the front. Significance of combinations of 45 degree angles. Timing in relation to using your fulcrum. Regulating the Center, when and why to make it thick or thin.

Wow! Great corrections, and lucky students!
Thank you, Master Chen, so much for sharing these concepts & methods.
This instruction is very important for people who are using these videos to find their way, especially if they don’t have a teacher nearby to offer these common corrections. (For instance, if they live in the forests of Costa Rica, like me.)

Which of these videos explains how practical method taiji deals with exerting/absorbing force in a way that is different from a sport like Greco Roman wrestling. I can’t seem to understand pivot points and points of contact and center of gravity

They all do Babak, key words are Indirect power, yin yang reversal, to withdraw is to issue, thick and thin. Start there.

Taiji, and Greco-Roman are not related in any way. When learning Taiji one must throw out any, an all ideas of relation to any previous experienc. To be able to learn Taiji correctly. Don’t relate any other arts, and the learning will have meaning. Doing otherwise will just confuse oneself.
