Hello!
I have been practicing Yang style Tai Chi for 2 years, and I am interested in learning Chen style. The school that I am studying at now focuses only on the health side of the art and I would love to be able to study Tai Chi as a comprehensive whole. My brother told me that ‘Joseph Chen’ is extremely talented and there is a school in Edmonton. And so, my search has brought me to this web site.

I am curious what the standard class rates are and I am also curious about full time training– how much that costs and if you can do a week at a time, months at a time or year round?

Thank you, I look forward to talking more.

-David

Who Is the Program for?
Instructions and course design cater to people outside of China. Cultural elements are part of the course to immerse the students to the culture. Instructors are selected based on the ability to communicate in English and with physical gestures. There will be lots of Chinese students and visitors at the course. Whenever Chinese language is spoken, it will be interpreted into English. English instruction is not translated into Chinese.
If you’ve had the martial art bug, this is the program for you. If you had a fantasy of doing mysterious martial arts on a cloud shrouded mountain in remote China in ancient time, this is the program for you, except the ancient time part. We teach an unaltered ancient art, but in a modern facility, complete with coffee and tea! Master Chen Zhonghua’s ability and teaching is not like your average neighborhood instructor. In many ways, his “magic” is beyond what you have seen in movies (except the animation)! This will be an out of this world experience.
You don’t need any previous taiji training to be part of this program. Master Chen will start you up right from the beginning. Any previous habits will be eliminated during the course of study.
If you don’t want to be the best martial artist, you will come out with much improved health! This comes in a variety of ways. Students in the past have healed from asthma, heart problems, arthritis, fibromyalgia, knee problems, etc. Most students have lost weight!

There will be a Certificate of Attendance given to each participant.
Fulltime Course Certification is given only to those who successfully completes three-month or more of full time training. This will also include the completion of the entire course contents as outlined in course information.
Level One Instructor Certificate is given to those who complete one month of training.

Hello David,
The class rate for our regular program as listed above is $70 monthly for one 2 hour class per week. Two classes per week is $90 monthly and three per week only $105. We also have annual rates that save you 2 months of fees (multiply the monthly fee times 10 – you pay for 10 months and attend 12 months.

We give all the information and training you need to totally understand and actually correctly learn Taiji.

The Full Time training will be starting around the middle of September until the middle of December (actual times to be set soon), and you can come for as little as a week up to the full 3 months. Cost is $455 for a week, $770 for 2 weeks, $2400 for two months and this year, $3150 for the three months.

Thank you for your interest and hope to hear from you again,

Master Allan Belsheim

Are full time courses available at the Edmonton location?

A modified Full Time Program is offered on student request. The program is from 1 week to 1 month duration offering an in depth immersion on a mostly individual basis- from 1 to 3 students. Let me know what you are interested in learning and the time frame you can use, and I can reply with the details of training you need. Basic to advanced teaching is offered to get you to where you can work more confidently with Grandmaster Chen Zhonghhua.

I am presently in Japan and will return to teaching in Edmonton Jan. 18.

what would the full time week long program include, I will have at least a full week (from Saturday to Saturday). I am interested in discussing the possible areas of study and what would be the best fit, my only area of study has been self defense. How much time will I be able to spend training a day (instructional and self guided), what would the cost be, and are accommodations available?

Wondering if you are still offering day time classes…and the cost.

Hello Simone, I offer a modified Full Time Program available for a week or more as needed. It is essentially private, one on one training during the day for an hour or two while attending evening classes form 6:30 to 8:30pm to help with repetition and immersion to build the right responses in the body. The cost for the day training is $650 for 10 hours of private tutelage while the evening classes are $150 for a month- that would be 10 hours a week for evening classes.
If you are not referring to private training, I only offer one morning class which is Qigong and the Hunyuan 24 Wednesday from 10 to noon. All other evening classes – Monday to Friday – are as noted above.

Hello again Simone. I may have misunderstood your question about day time classes as that reminded me of the Modified Full Time Instruction I offer so gave some detail about that aspect.
If you were only interested in Day Time Regular classes, then the one mentioned for Wednesday from 10 to noon is the only one offered during the day, consisting of one hour Qigong and one hour of the Hunyuan 24 Taiji form that has Qigong elements built in.
The cost for that class (and any other regular class we offer in the evenings ) would be $70 a month. If you only want to do the Qigong class (1hour) then the cost is $40 a month.
Hope this clarifies things a bit better and fully answers your question. Let me know if more information is required.
