Don’t push, don’t move the hand.

Don't Move the Hand

We have always been told by Master Chen not to push, not to move the hand. If that is the case, what can we do?

Stretch

Without stretching, you can’t possibly be rotating.
Without stretching, there is no relationship between moving and non-moving points.

Stretch is an action that we always do, we always maintain. The more the better. You stretch between the moving and non-moving points.

You train different body parts to stretch at first without knowing how to use it. Training the body parts to stretch is like building tools. You need to build enough of these tools, such that in the future, you can pick the right tool(s) to do the job. The various combinations of these various accumulated stretches produce different directions of rotational forces.

Good points! In the recent Ottawa workshop Master Chen Zhonghua made that clear.
