Are workshops open to the public? I stay in southwest Ohio and I would like to attend this workshop and/or the Toronto workshop.

It is open to the public. The fist section of the day we will be going through basics such as foundations, advanced foundations and first 13 postures as a warm up and for the needs of those beginning on the journey. After lunch break intensity will increase with yilu, Erlu, drills and applications. Day 2 will continue to focus erlu, drills, and cannon fist. Plans are subject to change, however, this was last years format.

Where are you at in the learning process? Do you know the yilu and erlu? There will be a high concentration of Chen Zhonghua’s disciples, and we have been willing to work with less experienced practitioners.

I am one of the organizers of the workshop. You can call me at (319) 4043962 or email me at johnnyupshaw@yahoo.com Please feel free to contact me for questions.

Respectfully, John Upshaw

Hi Scott,

Please contact me if you are interested in coming to the Toronto workshop. The next one will be on Sep 22-25, 2016.

I would advise you to learn as much the choreography of yilu as possible from the video. The principles and concepts will sink in more, and you will be able to see how training yilu is directly related to them.

Looking forward to see you.

Kelvin

Hello John! I’m currently working on the positive and negative circles as they are part of foundation exercises and getting down the choreography of the first thirteen moves of yilu.

Well Scott, I think you would take much away if you you are selective about what you want to take with you. In the beginning it can be vast and complex…but man what a way to immerse yourself! We tend to be intense, hardcore, and fun. We work as a group to seek improvements in all members if that is what they are seeking. A way to jump in with both feet…a crash course. It WOULD GIVE YOU AT LEAST A YEAR OF MATERIAL to WORK ON….I personally make training goals to practice in between workshops. Shifu can tell if you worked on what was given to you to address. If you came a day prior to the workshop I, along with my disciple brothers would give you periodic crash courses in the yilu and the principals…and connect you to instructors closer to you, Like Erwin from Milwaukee, whom we have met in Chicago for a weekend to train. I am open to meeting you online via Google hangouts to review what you know and taking it a few steps further as a means of preparation for the Midwest gathering. Feel free to send me IM ON FACEBOOK ON what needs are. My Mentors in the early years done the same for me.

Respectfully

JOHN
