Motion capture at the Singapore Polytech on Practical Method

by Chen Zhonghua Taiji Academy on 2012/02/29

In a few days we will have some videos to post on our work today. Thanks to K. S. Loke of Malaysia and Michael Koh of Singapore for arranging this. I hope we will have some good teaching/learning videos of the foundations of the Practical Method out of this.

About Chen Zhonghua Taiji Academy

Chen Style Taijiquan 19th generation disciple. International Standard Bearer of the Practical Method system of Hong Junsheng. Second generation master of Hunyuan Taiji. Been teaching internationally since 1985. Educated in the West with a Master's Degree in Education. Highly accomplished through the lineage of two great masters. Disciplined, precise and powerful. He teaches a complete system of taiji based on the principle of yin yang separation; indirect power as a core concept; movement and tranquility as the source of action. In both theory and practice, his taijiquan deals with the problems of double-heavy. He is a real treasure of the heritage of taijiquan.

It is great! I hope that it could be used in a 3D CAD program that we can orientate it to see the movement in different angles. Would the 3D model has the beard as your trademark?

Sweet. This is something I was working on as a home pet project with multiple webcams.. Well done! Looking forward to the result. Will this generate a generic/proprietary virtual (3D) video file for viewing manipulation? If so, will you provide the software to view?

Hi Guys,
You will not be able to be manipulate in 3D unless you have on of those specialized software and the original source data.

As technology catches up with Master Chen and his principles, it produces more and more interesting results…love it….put me down for one push hands robot based on his technique for training….

Singapore Polytech has already came out with a Taiji Robot one back in 2008. Now also maybe the first Practical Method model?
