Master Sun Zhonghua’s Daqingshan Paintings

These are two pictures of Master Sun Zhonghua’s latest oil paintings on the subject of Daqingshan. The first one depicts a section of the ancient Ju State (?-431 B.C.) Great Wall. These are remains on the current Daqingshan site. The second one depicts a scene of the oak trees on Daqingshan.

我还以为是照片呢。光影和透视都十分准确,而那画面中的诗意很有俄罗斯画派的味道。

For me, this is a Taiji style painting by a Taiji practitioner. The far away empty sky and the front solid stone ground stretch out and repelling from each other as Yin and Yang. The middle still oak trees stand still. This is a statement of Yin Yang Separation. The path as appears in a lot of Chinese paintings leaves imagination to where is it leading to, or else a destination not determined. The Taiji practitioner keeps on searching and searching…
