This is very methodical and good, but it is very difficult for me to learn from a video without it being in mirror image, especially when changing directions, crossing hands, etc. You also move through things very fast. Would be nice to have the 13 moves broken down into slower individual sections.

There is an older video on youtube that has rear view and side view. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aATVSYY7fyc

I am learning the first 13 move of the Yilu form with Lin Lin in NH. I have found as a physical therapist assistant that some of the distinct elements of the form have helped me in teaching my patients functionally how to open and relax some hip dysfunctions. They are more effective then some traditional therapy exercises.
Thank You for bringing the teachings to us in the United States.

Thank you! This video is extremely helpful to me beginning to learn Practical Method Yilu. I’ve been trying to figure it out based on several different versions of Master Chen’s form within various workshop videos, but the technique is so refined it’s difficult to see everything that is going on. The step by step count, key points, and common pitfalls are tremendously helpful. Very much appreciated.

thank you calvin…those three were the main videos i was working with in addition to a really informative first 13 in ireland workshop 1. towards the end master chen gives a very clear demonstration. all the various yilu’s even the several versions on youtube have slight variations in timing and emphasis/power. its been very helpful to have several of master chens students versions as well to see the transmission taking place in students is incredibly informative. but having the finland beginner version is great for establishing a solid baseline. i have it realitively well but still many many mistakes. once i get it cleaned up some more i will submit it for review/correction….would love to have your input. thanks again.

I am using “Yilu first 13 moves simple lesson” to help me catch up with the other students in class. Since I joined late, I missed some beginning lessons. The video is big help. I also appreciate the reasonable price. Probably something all beginning students should take advantage of.

This is a very good instructional video that it should be used for anyone learning the Yilu for the first time. The counting for each move helps tremendously. It would be great if Master Chen could produce the same for subsequent moves of Yilu to help learners at home.

‘Yilu First 13 Moves Simple Lesson’ seems to fit very well the learning style of ‘Western’ students. ’13 Moves Counts – Front & Side Views’ are good.
’13 Moves Key Points’ is an excellent learning tool.
I suggest that Master Chen create a similar teaching video for the entire ’81 moves Yilu.’

This is a very helpful video. Showing the form from two sides and then showing key points is perfect for me–someone who wants to learn the form. Learning one short section each week. Putting the internal method into each movement is especially hard. I should have it down pretty well by next year and will be ready for corrections at a workshop.
