I can almost here O Canada playing in the background; medal in the chest; Steve lip sing under his breath; tears rolling down his eyes.

Was the last move Cannon Smash Brain to the Ground? Great job, Steve!

Thanks for the kind words. It was very interesting pushing against people who are using such intensity.

Good job, but too stiff. The opponents are too weak.

It is quite a coup to go to China for push hands and do such an excellent job that you wind up as the talk of the town! Congratulations, Steven!

The background of this competition is that the organizer came to Daqingshan and watch the students there train. He then suggested for the group to participate only with Steven Chan competing. “Steven can push hands and lose honorably,” By this he meant that the rest would only look silly and be defeated soundly at a real competition. This came from a master/competitor (he still competes) who won the provincial championship many times and won the Chen Village push hands in his division. Well, we went to learn and be humiliated but at the end of the first day, our 7 students did not lose one fight. At the end of the competition, let’s just say, we changed a lot of minds and opinions. Indeed things are not always what they appear to be!
